Hello, My name is Gráinne Kenny and I am an Irish Textile Designer.
Welcome to my new blog Gráinne Kenny Design, I say new as I did own a previous blog to this one that I set up in 2008, but I decided to delete that one and re-start a new one purely only for my business.
I will be adding information about my work, but just to briefly fill you in... I specialise in woven textiles where I design and create be-spoke hand woven fabrics for home Interiors. Previous to weaving, I had specialised in Mixed media textiles/Embroidery and I also design and make wall art and small stitched products such a tea cosies. I loved both while at university and studied both but mastered in Weaving.
I am a past graduate of University College Falmouth, in Cornwall also GMIT, Co. Galway and Grennan Mill in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny.
Inspiration for my work comes from that of the Sea, living close to many beaches and amongst woodlands I am spoilt for choice regards endless inspiration. I love the Seashore and I have used the theme of the sea for many of my projects.
I am registered with the Crafts Council of Ireland and I own a face book page under Gráinne Kenny - Textile Design. I will attach a link to this blog page.
So that's really my introduction and to say hi to the world!
